My work is documentary, I want to capture the little details that usually pass everyone by. The good and the bad- the gritty and the beautiful. I shoot with 2 primary cameras, a Mamiya 6mf, and a Holga 120n, both medium format. I use the Holga for the majority of my work, but there are certain conditions that warrant a camera with a bit more control (like shooting at the Eastern State Penitentiary). So I carry both and a good selection of film. For anyone getting started in Toy Camera or Low-fi photography my suggestion is to simply experiment with the cameras and films, get a good idea of what film you'll need for each type of light, location and look- instead of metering your camera, you are essentially doing it with your film speed- dark? Throw in some 400 asa.. bright day? use some 100 asa. |
