Marie-Madeleine

With the images in this story I wanted to represent the ancestors of our modern heroes: before Spiderman, Batman and the others, we had Saints in western culture that used to be the vehicle for heroic human values. I did a series about some representatives and protectors for down-to-earth business corporations. Anne for lingerie makers, Honoré for pastry makers, Pierre for key makers, Mary-Madeleine for perfumers and so on ...

This is personal work that I showed in an art gallery. I tried to shoot a kind of beauty portrait that was twisted and off the beaten path in a very strange and contradictory way. For instance, using a black background, which makes everything suddenly dramatic, and an almost monochromatic black and white atmosphere with a hint of a blood-red scary life-like touch.
