I shoot fashion, and pretty much only fashion. I don't do much beauty... I don't find that as interesting.

I always work with a team when shooting fashion -- hair, makeup and stylists, plus the models. They are always encouraged to add their ideas and suggestions, and at the end of the day are all invited to help go through and select the images for the story. I run a pretty open ship, as far as collaboration goes. My teams all get along really well -- we're just a bunch of friends that get together, have fun and do a job. It's fun to go to work with them!

I can't stress enough the need to pick teams that work well together and well with each other's personalities. I feel that the atmosphere of the shoot should be fun and happy, not tense or stressed at all, and when starting out it can be hard to get groups together that gel well. It does take some amount of people skills to keep the mood fun but still work-oriented, and to make sure everyone's personalities will jive together. Every once in awhile you try to bring a new person in to the team and it just does not work -- that's always an interesting day!
