The majority of my personal work over the past few years has been shot on 2 1/4 film with a Mamyia RB67. It’s a really nice camera to work with as it allows me to have very good control over my composition and depth of field. I feel that the cinematic quality of my images is enhanced with this camera. Negatives are scanned digitally and retouched: making slight saturation, colour and contrast adjustments.

Many photographers have influenced my over the past several years. The portrait work of Arnold Newman has always knocked me out. His use of composition and lighting reflects so much about his subjects. It’s such a pleasure to revisit his work. The fashion work of Guy Bourdin and his use of electronic flash and color has also influenced me. Lately I’ve been interested in the work of Julia Fullerton-Batten and Eric Ogden. Their cinematic approach to lighting and portraiture has influenced my work recently. I’d love to be a fly on the wall during some of their shoots.
