Dominique Palombo : next page

In this newest series of work, Dominique rids himself of the tremendous gear inherent in the process of big shoots. He says, “here I was shooting my pro jobs and no personal work because I didn’t think the personal work would ever measure up to the infrastructure we had in the pro stuff.” That’s changed with new technology, and the advent of a point-and-shoot that writes raw files. Dominique used a Canon G5 to shoot the work included in this article. This freed him of all that baggage. “Shooting raw is important,” he says, and the G5’s image quality and file sizes are good enough for pro work”. He says it “renews that childlike wonder that you had for photography in the first place. I want to use big gear when it’s essential to the art, but sometimes it’s refreshing to strip yourself of all of that.”
