“They creep up on you,” Dominique says, “the rules you put in your head.” Next thing you know, “you’re following rules you haven’t realized you’d given yourself.” And this, he says, can ruin your work. “It’s cliché, but you have to learn to break the rules again. Block it out and take the damn shot. Don’t think about it too much and try to see where it lands. If your gut is saying you like it – do it!”
