As a boy, growing up in a rural farming community in Nova Scotia, Canada, I was fascinated by the aquatic realm, from chasing frogs to scuba diving. It eventually led to me studying marine biology at Acadia University. During this time I did field research for the Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries, and participated in various projects including kelp studies and lobster larval recruitment. After college I was involved with a research program at Dalhousie University breeding tilapia fish with humanized insulin tissue intended for transplantation as a cure for diabetes. Currently my vocation is as a clerk in the Biology Department at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. My family and I reside in the nearby seaside town of Bedford. |
From early childhood I have enjoyed writing poetry, soon
followed by a growing enjoyment of photography. Gradually, my creative
interest in visual expression deepened, and photography is now an
enlightening and rewarding experience. Currently, I enjoy combining my
passions for poetry and photography, as highlighted in my
recently published book “Between Us”, featuring photographic
images and romantic poems. My other diversions include writing -
children's short stories and a recently completed novella - clay
whistles in animal form, professional quality kites, chess, etc.
