The Laundress McFarlane learned PhotoShop as part of his publishing work, eventually scanning and working on 4x6 prints of his images. Finally, with the advent of
high-quality digital cameras, I bought my first one 5 years ago... an
Olympus E20. Then a Nikon D70, and finally a Nikon D200 that I now use.
I would not have the enthusiasm for this if I hadn't also bought a
large format printer (Epson 7600, 24"), which enables me to shoot in
the morning, do preliminary processing in the afternoon, and print the
same night. (Almost as instantaneous as Polaroid). I even have a frame
with an easy to remove back that allows me to hang my latest work as
soon as it drops into the printer's basket. A year ago I bought a
second printer, an Epson 9800, 44".
Over the course of his return to photography, Tom has had several one-man shows, 2 at local galleries, and one at Indiana University (with another scheduled for late August through early October.) He has also entered his work in numerous national competitions and has won several awards. |
