At the turn of the century I photographed my first shopping cart, the nucleus of the ideas that would fill out this series of images.  In Beaver, Pennsylvania, outside a grocery store, two shopping carts were together, snow falling and a car alarm bleating its warning in the lot.  The sound of the alarm applied itself to the carts and its warning was apropos.
