I’ve no training or schooling in photography that is formal. I’ve known quite a few people who are very good at the craft and have been good enough to teach me and be brutally critical of my work (including this story – thanks all). When I can, I travel to New York to assist. I have a few prospects in the works, but so far I’ve assisted only one shooter: a brilliant photographer and teacher named Richard Warren. At the moment, I’m deciding whether to move to New York to scrounge assisting work full time, or moving to a city that’s cheaper, finding a day job and a ratty warehouse studio space, and working on my own projects.
