This shoot is a special portrait
story for Foto-Video China, I was named the photographer for this year.
The idea came from a photo by my friend, Adam
Bartas, in which the model looks like a chessman. Whether or not I use a team in my photography depends on the shoot, these shots certainly required a team. Mr. Deng, an editor of the Chinese version of Foto-Video, supervised the operation. Xiao Le,the make-up artist, bought the crosier for the queen and his staff made the clothing for the pawn. Mr. Yeux offered many pieces of advice and assumed some of postprocessing work. Mr. Bona gave action guidance to the model and bought the chess board and pieces together with Mr. Yeux. I bought the axe in a toy shop and rented the dress for the queen from an advertisement company. I also did some part of the postprocessing work and was the one who held the camera. Model Li Zheng acted the two characters in the story. The model's expressive force really matters in a story like this one. Of course we're never completely satisfied with any shoot, but we had a good time working as a team. |
