The
Photographer Generally I am a BIG KID with my camera, a PLAYER. I believe that through playing you can learn most of what there is to learn in life. "Don't take it too seriously, it's just a game", but afterwards, once the game is over, take it critically and understand what happened. For me that works really well. "Let's play and learn from each other!" Hermann Hesse once
said.
This is what I do with my camera. If there is something that
I want to know or if there is someone I should take a portrait of for
an editorial, then I set up a little game, which is: improvising with
what is there, checking out how we can do funny games with it and then
constructing numerous images from those ideas.
We don't need anything more than us, our immediate
environment and the camera. The goal is to capture the game's results
with the camera. I am the director and I am setting the rules for the
game as we go along. This is just a little example, but with most other
shoots it is the same.
