When I start a shoot I have no idea of what's going to happen. It depends on the model and on the mood. I use one or two projectors and play around with the slides until I find something I like. Then I can take 10 to 15 shots thet have some similarities. I change projections and continue. A typical session lasts about one hour and I take about 400 shots where more than half of the photos are truly spectacular, which is an amazing ratio. My biggest problem is the selection process. The photos are retouched in photoshop only to fix density and color. Everything else is done in camera.
