What would my advice be for anyone just starting out? Or contemplating it? I would tell them to think very seriously about it. Photography can be well paid, but that is not the reason you do it. If you want money, rob a bank, it’s a lot easier. If you’re serious about your art there will be lean times. I’ve lost count of the times I have sold my cameras in Bangkok’s Chinatown. It’s like selling your children. Apart from that, the crucial thing is to find a style. That’s what clients choose you for. That’s what you have to offer, what makes you different. Without it you’re just another bloke with a camera.
