The Gauge

I went on a trip with my girlfriend and her mother out to West Texas where we stayed in a small hotel called the Gauge. The hotel is very old and we were staying in the historic section. The rooms were really unique and each room was painted a different color. This was taken the same day we returned from hiking the south rim in Big Bend National Park. Everyone was tired including my girlfriend who nagged me as I was shooting this photo to pick up the pace for she wanted to take a nap. I ended up walking around the town of Marathon where I met the photographer James Evans who has chosen to make West Texas his subject.
