Rita Hayworth
The application techniques of this ‘glamour era’ were what we call ‘heavy’ handed. The makeup techniques for post-modern ‘glamour’ are a product of new technologies and applications. In it’s infancy, with so few products available: the ‘glamorous’ look was achieved by ‘heavy’ makeup and heavy application. A ‘natural’ look as an oxymoron (takes a lot of makeup to achieve a natural look!) simply didn’t exist. The heavier, the better… to achieve ‘glamour’ on the face.

So when we think of ‘glamour’ makeup today, we give thanks to the early ‘cinematic’ icons and makeup artist precursors…who knew very well, that glamour is ALL about simplicity and attitude. Today glamour can be as simple as a pair of torn jeans but with a string of white pearls around the neck... and a lip gloss by Christian Dior or Lancome's famous ‘juicy tubes’. Simple, elegant, equals glamorous.

Glamour is all about attitude… some of us carry it off, some of us don’t… all the makeup in the world means nothing, if glamour is not exuded from the inside out.

We give thanks to the cinema stars who look back at us – color enhanced - in all their Hollywood glamour and alluring magic spells.
