I’m a draughtsman by trade. I think that’s where I get my sense of perspective, and composition. I spent twenty plus years with Nortel Networks before opening my studio.  I was very lucky to have the support of that company while also building my home based photographic business. By the time I left Nortel, I had built my portrait business to the point where the move was very transparent. Being in a small city, most advertising is done by word of mouth and very little money was spent looking for work. It also helped that the two established studio photographers in the area choose that timeframe to retire.

I purchased my first camera in 1974 as a favour to a friend who was trying to raise some money. At the time I had no interest in the art form photography at all. Twelve years later I was considered a  semi-professional, doing weddings, portraits and corporate events.

On my 50th birthday in 1999, I opened my studio doors.
