These shots are a mix of both commercial and personal work, but even in the commercial work I had to find the personal narrative. The same themes always reappear in the work: love, longing and fragility. They’re deeper ways of looking at the classic themes of God, sex and death. They’re never conceptual themes, they just inherently emerge in the work.

For the fashion campaigns, we book models from agencies, but for all of the rest, they are friends, friends of friends and intimates. Most of them find me. The personal work is just that, personal. Whoever I shoot with needs to be able to be emotionally honest and vulnerable. I need to have a personal connection with whomever I shoot.
