The spectral highlight here is caused by an optical spot flash that can be focused and shaped. This also creates an interesting streak across the fan as well as the highlight. For this shot I layered a blurred imaged of the fan using a Sinar soft filter and captured the fan with the blades moving, I layered the blurred image over a sharp image to give me the ghostly quality and still retain underlying sharpness.
