I’ve always been in love with the superficial lifestyle of fashion. I love the idea of creating the “better than you image”. Fashion is fun and it’s something we all want to be – fun, sexy, full of energy. Even before I got into photography, I was always interested in the latest European trends and the new designers on the scene. I love fashion, I love clothing, I love the attitude. It’s funny because even though I loved fashion and enjoyed photography – I never thought I’d be doing fashion photography – it never crossed my mind. I think more people just have to figure out what they really love and go with it – make a career out of it.
Today photography pays the rent, the bills, my film and take out Chinese every now and then. It’s a struggle sometimes, but if your heart is there... you just have to keep your head up. Being an artist is hard, especially when you’re starting out... you just need to tell yourself this is what you love to do and keep doing it. I really feel strongly that if your heart is there anything is possible.
If you're just starting out, believe you are amazing. If you believe enough in yourself and your work – you can fool anyone.
If you want to do this for a living than work hard! Make it your life! Self promotion is what it’s about, you never know who you’re going to meet. Photography is with me 24/7. It’s hard at first, especially when you keep getting doors shut in your face.. but keep your confidence. It’s stressful... it’s not a 9-5 style job where you can leave the work at the office – it’s constant anxiety and emotions (ups and downs).
