Cherry Kiss When I first moved to Manhattan in order to study at SVA, the only things I wanted to do were childrens’ books. I am very passionate about the idea of working on a series of images that engage the interest of the child and stimulates their imagination. Now when I work on other projects such as this one, I truly have to change my mind set depending on the project, this is what interests me in art. If you continue working on one subject matter there is always the risk of becoming repetitive, whereas working in a larger variety permits the artist's mind to explore different genres and gain fresh inspiration from each of them. Improvise with joie de vivre! A successful illustration distinguishes itself by a light, brisk hand and an unstudied sense of movement. The drawing of the human figure is the most crucial aspect of a piece. The figure should be rendered in its aliveness and humanity, dealt with more directly and on a higher level of thoughtfulness. The only true measure of reaching outstanding art achievement is through a defined personal vision. |
