Chine colle Illustrations

Chine colle combines delicate layers and precious webs of delightfully patterned Chinese and Japanese rice paper with a sophisticated  line drawing. Each layer is scanned individually into the computer and further amalgamated in Photoshop. The final output is digital.

Painting behind Plexiglas

Working in a combination of spray paint and acrylics on Plexiglas my paintings evoke traits of 17th century Japanese Scrolls with their clean, smooth lines and often sensual figures. Inspired by Europe’s stained glass windows, I pour and layer the paint on the backside of the Plexiglas, giving the work a clean elegance. Nothing is accidental or spontaneous in this process, as I am meticulous in their creation.
Everyday things that inspire me

Inspiration, motivation, pacification, stimulation is coming from my European background as well as my daily life in New York:
  • Dad’s "vive la grand nation" or French is the eternal language
  • Mum’s delicious German cheesecake
  • My Sister’s Italian "Grande Amore" stories
  • Asia Society & Kinokuniya Bookstore
  • Endless trains of Champagne
  • Feeling safe in the warmest arms of the world
  • 12 hours of sleep
  • deep-tissue Massage
  • Steak Tartare & Oysters
  • Yoga in the mountains of Huzur Vadisi, Turkey
  • Sultan our Turkish Cat
  • Laughing with my friends
  • Crying to Spanish Music 93.1 AMORE
  • …and of course myself
Eventually I will look back at this part of my life and say that it was a narcissistic phase. But I think there’s a big "group versus individual" theme, and there are often ideas about hiding what we’re really feeling. Be true to yourself!
