The idea for this shoot with Kim
Taylor is an extention of a theme I've dwelled upon for quite some
time. It started out from a series of paintings I produced in
2003-2004, called Dolly and I
Travel Across the Universe. The small series of canvases
illustrate a very simple story, telling of a doll's endless space
travel experience. As Friendly Rich has neatly rephrased for me, it is
"a series of fantastic storybook type paintings portraying a limited
scope of imagination we were given by our ancestors"; our imagination
simply cannot escape the portal of our mind, a series of complicated
conditioning from culture and environment. |
