I published a couple of books, which is great for the ego, but no way to make a living. Then I fell into doing stock photography by accident, and it turned out to be a good fit for me. I  go anywhere I want, travel all over the world and shoot anything I feel like shooting. I come home, retouch the hell out of everything,  give it to my stock agency - Getty Images - and they sell it for enough that I don't have to do anything else.

It's a precarious business, because your royalty check can be a zillion dollars one month and nothing the next, but on the whole it's averaged out to be pretty good for me. And the creative freedom that comes with it is worth everything. There's a bunch of my travel images on my "other" website, edfreemanphotography.com
