I grew up near the sea and have always been a water baby so was quick to sign up for the underwater photography course. It soon became apparent that competition was very strong with fellow underwater photographers so I decided to be different and shoot people and fashion. I managed to convince Kodak and a travel agency to sponsor a trip to the Red Sea where I took a model, make-up and stylist. I shot a portfolio of images in 5 days including half in/out images which were very unique and unseen at the time.

On returning to the UK I knocked on many doors and finally was successful with British Airways. They bought everything I had shot and most of the images were published in their magazine Highlife. Soon I was flying on commissions all over the world shooting fashion and documenting behind the scenes in poor areas of Africa and India.

Since the beginning most of my work has been fashion and beauty in and out of water, some years would mean 80% out of water in the studio and location and other years 80% underwater getting very shrivelled fingers and toes!
