It’s heating up on the streets as the summer’s hottest footwear takes center stage. Is it just me or has it been one of the best summer seasons for footwear? Summer is usually a very plain season for shoes, normally you have your pumps and your flip flops. This season however is a footwear fanatic’s dream with an array of trends to choose from. We all know by now that Fall is the best dressed season for footwear but this year’s summer trends will be hard to top. If you haven’t already picked up on these, after all summer is in full swing, here are the top 3 summer footwear trends that your feet will love.

GLADIATOR GLORY

This roman inspired trend has been around for a few seasons in subtle touches, but this summer they have literally taken over every sidewalk known to man. When you think of the first time we saw this trend, it was done in only a flat with the other strappy detailing. Now that this is a full blown trend we are seeing Gladiators in all styles of shoes. Flats, high heel Sandals, high heel Stilettos, Wedges and Chunkies. My favourite is when it’s done with a chunky heel and platform with a metallic finish. This glams up the trend and dresses up your summer wardrobe. This trend is so vast, the styles so varied, that you will definitely find something in your wardrobe to wear depending on the style of shoe you choose that day.

COLOUR YOUR WORLD

It wouldn’t be summer without colour. Much like any other summer, this season shines with shoes and styles in almost every colour. Orange is extremely hot this season, but carrying over from last season, lime greens and the ever popular pinks and yellows are still favourites. You could never go wrong with your traditional neutral but why not take things to another level by adding some colour to that black pencil skirt? Don’t be intimidated by colour, it’s a great way to show off your personality. When in doubt pair your bright coloured footwear with denim and neutral. I love this look in a bright orange, half d‘orsay pump, paired with my favourite wide legged, denim trouser.

PATENT PIZAZZ

By far my favourite trend this season. Patent isn’t a new. It’s been around for the past few seasons but what makes this season different is the influence of retro styles and the shockingly bright colours that are available. There is just something about that finish, that shine, patent instantly changes an outfit. Other than the obvious character that it adds to traditionally conservative outfits, in patent everyone instantly recognizes you as a fashionista. This is the trend that makes you feel like a bad girl in black but put on a subtle pink and it creates a whole different feel.
