I used to draw a lot when I was young. At the age of 16 I got my first camera and I really enjoyed taking pics. After our local art centre I went to art school St Joost (Bachelor) in Breda, The Netherlands. Started in 1996 and graduated in 2000. Ever since I have been working as a professional artist and photographer.

When I first started off after graduating I also wanted to be a commercial photographer. After a short time I decided to work as an artist and to go for it for the full 100%. Photography is a medium I use to accomplish my goals. My photography heroes have been several: Erwin Olaf is the number one I think, but also Newton, David LaChapelle, Anton Corbijn and for sure Herb Ritts. During art school I wrote him (Herb Ritts) several letters asking if it was possible to work in his studio as a trainee. I still have the letters he sent back to me and I preserve them very well!

Andy Warhol and Josef Beuys I think where great artists and are great inspirational sources. If I had a choice I would love to work with Erwin Olaf or David LaChapelle for a while. Not to learn techniques but to know them better personally and talk about creating art.
