Klaus Thymann is, by his
own description, an energetic Viking with a beard who uses pink
gaffatape a lot on his shoots, loves snowboarding, cigars, comics and
wearing colourful jumpers. He lives in London with his equally silly
girlfriend.
He travels a lot on his job, and recommends that everyone should carry a pair of slippers in their suitcase.
"In my professional life
I've
never done anything but photography. However, there have been
a lot of different
branches on the visual-tree. I don't consider myself
as a photographer only, more a visual director. I've directed
music-promos, had art shows, published magazines, done
art-direction for clients, but this is all under the same
umbrella.
A key in my career has been not to depend on earning a lot of money, this gives me the freedom to say no to jobs I don't find interesting, and the luxury of time to work on personal projects."
