Before moving to Paris 2 years ago, I had been doing some photographic work in Latvia, I worked for a few magazines, I also had a personal exhibition.

I think my most poetic images belong to that period. In Latvia we have a special northern light, which you will not find in Western Europe. The nature is reserved and mysterious, with all these old woods, swamps, empty roads... you just cannot remain outside its gloomy charm. Since I moved to Paris I've never managed to convey this mood again. My new series has a different light and feeling even if the subjects remain the same.
