The Pirates

I never wanted to become a commercial photographer.. but I had in mind doing fashion photography as I thought this was very glamorous and I loved Peter Lindbergh's photography... then I learned that fashion is dull and thought I shall really do portraiture. I loved Herb Ritts and Annie Leibovitz for quite a while. Then I got to understand Wolfgang Tillmans and Terry Richardson.. and thought: Rock 'n Roll.... Punk.. Trash.. YEAH! (this was all still in my time at University).

Then I stopped thinking about other photographers and just went out and shot hundreds and hundreds of rolls in order to find out what I am good at and what it is that I want to communicate with photography. I settled on a few strengths and interests, made sure to get some commissions, and continued.

I am still trying to find myself in photography, but it is much easier and more rewarding nowadays. I know a lot about myself and my cameras, and still I get those WOW moments when I am surprised by a picture of mine. I love it all, the entire adventure of learning and practising the magic of photography.
